Three consultation rooms support ophthalmic assessment and specialist consultations.
Our Ophthalmology Department provides specialized medical and surgical care for eye conditions and vision disorders. Our team of experienced ophthalmologists, optometrists, and eye care professionals utilize advanced diagnostic technology and treatment techniques to preserve, restore, and enhance vision for our patients.
The Ophthalmology Department is the section of the hospital that attends to people who complain of problems with the eyes and their surrounding structures.
It is located on the first floor of the JICA Wing, where the consultation Clinics are, and accessible through Gate #1 of the hospital.
The Department provides comprehensive ophthalmic consultation, surgery, medical treatments, inpatient care, optical services, diabetic eye disease laser treatments, interdisciplinary consultations, referrals and outreach services.
Three consultation rooms support ophthalmic assessment and specialist consultations.
A dedicated treatment room and investigation room support diagnosis and management.
The Department includes a two-bed Day-Surgery suite for appropriate ophthalmic procedures.
A ten-bed ward space is available for inpatient ophthalmic management.
The PNG Blindness Prevention INC operates a low-cost optical shop next door.
A dedicated reception area and 40-seat waiting area support patients attending the Department.
The Ophthalmology Department operates from 7:45am to 4:06pm on weekdays.
Patients are required to make prior appointments at the hospital's reception to be seen in the Department's Clinic.
Emergencies are seen as they present.
The Ophthalmology Department provides a range of clinical, surgical, diagnostic, optical and referral services.
To improve services, the Ophthalmology Department and Hospital Management are working in collaboration with health, education and supporting organisations.
