The period from January to December 2025 marked a
transformative phase for Port Moresby General Hospital
(PMGH), characterized by historic clinical milestones,
strengthened international partnerships, and sustained
investment in staff capacity building. During this
reporting period, PMGH achieved several national firsts,
including advanced cardiac, neurosurgical, and transplant
procedures, while continuing to deliver extensive
training, workshops, and collaborative programs aimed at
strengthening Papua New Guinea’s public health system.
These achievements reflect PMGH’s strategic direction as
the country’s national tertiary referral and teaching
hospital, with a clear focus on reducing overseas medical
referrals, building in-country specialist capacity, and
improving patient outcomes.
