Board Chairman’s Message

Mr Peter Graham, CBE

Chairman

On behalf of the Board, I want to take a moment to reflect on how far Port Moresby General Hospital has come. The past year was filled with challenges, but also great progress, driven by the hard work and dedication of our staff, leadership, and partners.

Chief Executive Officer’s Message

Dr Paki Molumi

CEO

Dear Staff, Partners, and Stakeholders,

As we begin 2025, I want to take a moment to reflect on the journey so far and acknowledge the hard work and commitment shown by everyone at Port Moresby General Hospital.

The first quarter has already seen strong progress as we continue to push forward in improving healthcare delivery for our people. From patient care to infrastructure and clinical services, we are building on the solid foundation set last year.

The year 2025 is special as the country celebrates its Golden Jubilee Political Independence. The Board has set a strategic direction to prioritize and address the triple burden of communicable and non-communicable diseases and maternal health.

The 2025 budget and Annual Implementation plan is targeted at delivering a comprehensive Heart and Stroke program, a comprehensive Kidney Disease program and a comprehensive Oncology cancer program.

To achieve the Kidney Disease program target of performing the first kidney transplant surgery in the country’s 50 years of independence, Management has set the following targets:

• The first Coronary bypass surgery to complement cardiac services.
• A comprehensive Stroke Reversal Program.
• A comprehensive kidney program including the first kidney transplant surgery.
• Phase II of modern cardiac surgery.
• Oncology cancer center with radio-oncology and chemotherapy.
• Commissioning of the 2025–2050 Comprehensive Medical Oncology Services Plan.

As the National Tertiary, Referral, Research & Teaching hospital, PMGH stands as a symbol of growth and resilience.

On behalf of the Executive Management Team, I am grateful for the support of the Government, partners, foundations, and NGOs.

To all our medical, clinical, and support staff — thank you. Your dedication drives this hospital forward.

Let’s make 2025 a year of progress, unity, and service.

Dr. Paki Molumi
Chief Executive Officer
